Diary of an Edinburgher

Shopping!

The new neighbours popped down for a visit this morning. They have a wee four month old baby, who was like a wee doll - very very cute. Archie was quite interested in this strange tiny human, once he’d stopped barking at them and let them in (but I had warned them).

So nice to hear of their plans and their life so far. Always interesting how people met and ended up here. The young woman, M, is Polish, so she was delighted to learn that we are going to Krakow soon. Baby sitting was casually mentioned…

Actually, A, also came to check our kitchen light, which has flickered ever since their plumber caused a slight flood. I went down to the local hardware to get a new bulb, as that was all that was wrong.

Once Archie had gone off with Elizabeth, JR persuaded me to pop down town with her, she wanted to show me something. I haven’t been for ages, and I do like the St James Centre, but boy, not on a Saturday! Absolutely mobbed. We had a wee look round until I got fed up and needed a food treat. Everywhere was busy, of course. But we sat at the bar in Ka Pao for a wee while, and then got a table. We’ve been there before, and it’s super. But one salad, with scallops, was bloomin’ HOT!

Checked the times of the bus home, and walked down to the bus stop in plenty of time. Waited and waited. Checked the bus app, but our bus had ‘disappeared’ and the next one was in 20 minutes. Waited and waited more, checked the app again, and our bus had DISAPPEARED again!!

On the way down, our bus did not go down the road to the shopping centre, so as we leapt off, I asked if they came UP the road. ‘YES’… er, that should have been a NO… the bus stop had actually moved to a different street! Not happy.

Eventually got home (JR could have walked home quicker) and were only a wee bit late for Archie’s arrival.
