Fun and politics can mix

The Norwich Trades Council organised a May Day Celebration in Chapelfield Gardens in the centre of Norwich and it was brilliant!.

There was a fabulous lineup of musicians to cater for all tastes, plus a 'poetry gazebo' which worked really well. This is a photo of the wonderful Anna Mudeka, Zimbabwean musician and dancer, who has featured in my journal before.

The sun shone and people turned up in their hundreds to picnic, party, talk politics and hear about what action is being taken here in Norwich.

And there is a lot going on: regular demos outside the ATOS organised by disability rights groups, the anti-Bedroom Tax campaign, We are Norwich which campaigns against all forms of discrimination and much, much more. Norwich Pride is 5 years old this year and the Pride pop-up shop had a stall doing a roaring trade selling rainbow striped cowboy hats, badges, flags and all sorts of goodies.

It's been an interesting weekend and I am nackered. Thank god Monday is a bank holiday. However, there is another event happening that I just might go to .....
