The spider

Many thanks for the kind comments, stars and hearts for a blip milestone yesterday.

With apologies to arachnophobes..We were short of ringers today but fortunately a visitor turned up so we were able to ring six bells. I thought I would share a photo of ‘Henriette’. The ropes are lifted up by a pulley after ringing and hooked onto the web. This system in bellringing towers is always called a spider. We decided that our spider should have a real model spider to accompany it. It is called Henriette after one of our ringers who has sadly moved away to Normandy. Now when anything goes wrong the joke is always, “ C’est la faute d’Henriette,” it is Henriette’s fault -  for having left us.
