Psycho Killer

I should have blipped this at the end of the play, but as we went on holiday straight after it finished, this is the first chance I’ve had. Also, I’ve spent most of today on the phone or the computer, sorting out boring things like Broadband contracts and antivirus programmes. Vital work, but not conducive to photo opportunities.
At the end of any amateur production, it is traditional for gifts and cards to be exchanged, but our director went one step further and handed out “Oscars” for various categories. My award was for “Best transformation from kindly old farmer into psychotic killer”. Other awards were for such things as “Best scream” and “Best wearing of inappropriately tight shorts”. No surprise then that everyone won an award for something!
Before the play started we treated the audience to a carefully curated playlist of 80s hits, all of which gave little clues to the plot. Tunes like “Don’t You Want Me”, “Tainted Love” and “Is She Really Going Out With Him?” should have given those who were paying attention a pretty good hint as to the relationship between the main characters.
Sadly, my suggestion of having the track “Psycho Killer” play every time I entered was (probably quite rightly) overruled on the grounds that we didn’t want to give too much away in the first five minutes!
Anyway, I’m very pleased to accept my award and would like to thank my family, the director, the writers, my therapist, my lifestyle coach…….
