Kirkcudbright Museum
Today's the day ......................... to be hands on
We're looking after our four-year-old granddaughter, Josie, today - and because it was not a day to be outside, we took her to Kirkcudbright Museum this afternoon.
For a small museum, it does well to have such a wide variety of artefacts on show, from archaeological finds and other memorabilia of local interest - to stuffed birds and animals, paintings and working models of all sorts of things. There really is something for everyone.
Josie loved this interactive screen where she could find something that was on display - in this case, prehistoric spearheads and flint cutting tools(?!) - and then she could zoom in on it, turn it round and look at it from every angle. As a child of the latest generation, she is perfectly at home with this sort of interaction.
And I just stood and marvelled at the ease with which she got everything under control - and the amazing details that were revealed when she did. Oh and it was free entry for all too ...........................
