More Waiting at Red
Another day of whizzing about, although I did manage to include a visit to the Vue with E to watch the Banshees of Innisherin, Martin McDonagh's latest masterpiece, reuniting Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell who previously starred together in his breakthrough film, In Bruges.
Don't read too much about it. It's a slow and melancholy and brutally honest depiction of life on a small island off the west coast of Ireland in the 1920s. It's a brilliant piece of story-telling and film-making. I'd be very surprised if it doesn't win the best original screenplay Oscar next time around. Selfishly, I hope it doesn't, for fear of too many people being drawn to visit these islands, which get an astonishingly beautiful photographic treatment in the film. Go see it if you can.
