Moschatel
Moschatel (Adoxa moschatellina) is a rather inconspicuous plant of old woods and shady track sides. It is not closely related to other flowering plants and is in a family of its own. Its common name is Townhall Clock, referring to the cuboid flower shape with four faces and a fifth pointing towards the sky. It is one of the earliest woodland plants to flower, though in my area some colonies hardly flower at all. I gather it gives of a scent of musk. However, where I was on my stomach photographing this one there is lots of Fox traffic, so I think their scent drowned out that of the tiny Moschatel.
