With Thanksgiving and Remembrance

We left home at 10:30 and headed to The Highlands. Hubby took us on a brand new route that started out very rough. We were pleasantly surprised to find a lot of it had been newly paved, not a minute before it needed it. We enjoyed lunch at “Bubba Burgher,” my sister shared a meal with me. The craft fair was massive but we bought only a few items, some pie/dip mixes, a hat and gifts for our German friends. My BIL dropped us at Mass and they visited their friend who owns the adjacent farm that is also a part time residence. He is quite sick with CF/COPD. The church is beautifully decorated for Fall. Parishioners have started bringing photos of their deceased relatives who will be remembered at all Masses during November. They also display a Ukrainian flag (inset) to remember those affected by the invasion. One of our paternal cousins who lived in FL passed today. My sister worked with him for years. His mom is all alone now, which is sad. We came home a different route and we were treated to serene vistas, colorful foliage and a barely running creek. There is always so much beauty in nature along the WV hills and valleys. Sure hope your weekend was as pleasant. Be safe on your daily journeys. Just as we could see the farm, our BIL noticed a young deer had its leg caught in the neighbor’s cow pasture barbed wire fence. Hubby had a multi tool of sorts in the car and together with a flat rock, they were able to make an opening in the twisted wires big enough to release the leg. The deer took off like a bullet but naturally, it was limping. The men were shook up but thankful they could help. Thanks for dropping by. "Let all creation help you to praise God. Give yourself the rest you need. When you are walking alone, listen to the sermon preached to you by the flowers, the trees, the shrubs, the sky, the sun and the whole world. Notice how they preach to you a sermon full of love, of praise of God, and how they invite you to proclaim the greatness of the one who has given them being." - St. Paul of the Cross
