Dandelions
There is a fantastic crop of dandelions on local farms at the moment. And they have almost all gone to seed simultaneously. All of the white bits in the photo are seed heads.
It reached 28C this afternoon, while I was cutting the grass. I stopped half way to rehydrate and to let the temperature ease off before I completed it. This is the sort of a day I expect in January.
It’s even been too hot for Bean to lie in the sun. She’s been lazing in the coolth of the truck. She’ll come to life when it cools down later on.
Her idiotic human worked in the garden and got plenty done; line trimming, mowing and potting up veg plants. But boy I needed my end-of-the-working-day cool shower, and a plate of freshly-picked green leaf salad and poached eggs was most welcome. A large cup of tea is next on the agenda, to be drunk outside in the lengthening shadows.
The new soap-making neighbour is keen to have eggs. So that’s another barter sorted.
A good day.
