Glimmer

Our flight touched down just after midnight and I struggled with the time difference from Spain and then the clock change. All fine until we got off the airport bus at St Andrew’s Square. Lots of drunken Halloween revellers (surreal) and not a taxi to be had for love or money. Well for money…..but I refused to pay £30 for a 5 min journey in an Uber (practically the same price as our flight!) so we tried to get the night bus and ended up walking (with our cases) through the tram building site to son no 1’s in Meadowbank (where our car was parked). We stopped off at McDonald’s en route (at about 2am) for fuel (even more surreal) I’m sure that the other customers (all young) thought we were dressed up as mad old people! Lie in today. Mr P went back into Edinburgh to meet his brother and nephews (up for the rugby) at lunchtime. I spent the day unpacking, cooking, reading the paper and catching up with Strictly. Much warmer outside than in the house. Missing the sunshine but still good to be home.
