How Far To Forfar?

Not so far as one might suppose. The Kingdom of Fife is on the south bank of the Firth of Tay. The County of Angus is situated on the north bank and beyond the City of Dundee.

The Tay and Dundee lead to the impression that Forfar is further away than it actually is. Forfar is closer to Forgan than Forgan is to Falkland.

Pat had discovered some information regarding the Meffan Museum in Forfar. We made our way to examine their Pictish Stone Collection.

The museum is in Halloween mood and I could have photographed a Pictish Burial Chamber complete with skeleton and a tableau regarding the Forfar Witches Trials.

I considered both inappropriate for Halloween although I did photographs for our research purposes.

I did find a pumpkin next to a stone and photographed that instead.

We have driven through Forfar on many occasions as we travel on our explorations.  Today we spent time walking in the town centre and looking at the various shops.

Covid and Brexit have certainly been the cause of several closures, but there is much to see and enjoy. We came across an interesting shop called Nutscene which is well a worth a visit.

The quite remarkable feature is the number of hairdressers in the town.

We returned home via Arbroath where we enjoyed a fabulous Battered Arbroath Smokie. The skin and bones are removed prior to being dipped and cooked.

This was served in the  Bell Rock Restaurant which is opposite the Signal Tower Museum.
