Goal!
M’boy and I were excited on Sunday morning as he had his second football match today.
The only downside was that there was no time for breakfast in bed and a Sunday morning lie-in with LadyV, shame, she makes a really good egg and bacon butty…
M’boy and I headed off to Windermere for the match, so feeling guilty for not being able to be in three places at once, I left The Eldest with some money and strict instructions to get The Youngest out for a little treat. I was delighted to receive the photo you can find in extras and also to hear that they’d had a nice girly few hours together.
On the pitch side, yours truly was roped into being a linesmen for the match and enjoyed the grin on m’boy’s face as he saw me clutching the bright orange and yellow flag. Myself, I enjoyed the fact that the referee was an actual foetus.
Unfortunately, the game went in a similar direction to the first one and despite a valiant effort from most of the players, m’boy’s team took another walloping, conceding 14 goals this time out…..HOWEVER, there was a slight silver lining in that they did get a late conciliation goal which was scored by m’boy with his left foot (no mean feat for a young right-footer)!
I should probably mention that it was a slightly contentious goal as it stemmed from an uncontested drop ball scenario, which our players should have left alone, unfortunately in their inexperience they played on and the ball fell to m’boy who neatly put his left foot through it, scoring from a tight angle.
Blissfully unaware of what had happened, he was delighted with his effort and was subsequently mobbed by his team mates - it was a really great moment….(if you ignore the completely accidental unsportsmanlike conduct).
