Day 2
Day 2 of our cycle. Thought the swelling on D's eye had gone down as it had over the eyebrow but it was now swollen below the eye and this area was now bruised.
Left Newtonmore in sunshine but windy to follow Route 7 south and over the Drumochter Pass. We hadn't gone far before we felt the full force of the wind in our faces. I was struggling to make much headway against the winds which were between 30 - 40 mph. It took us over an hour to cover 8 km, all the time climbing. We were very glad to stop for a rest at a very welcome cafe in Dalwhinnie. Soon we were into the rain as we headed up to the top of the Drumochter Pass. It was good to at last be going downhill even though we still had to pedal against the wind. Eventually we began to get more shelter from the wind but still had to be aware of the gusts. We met quite a few cyclists going the other way - it must have been good getting that wind on their backs.
We stopped again at the Mill cafe in Blair Atholl and came out to heavy rain. We arrived in Pitlochry, glad to get there and quite tired. 69 km
