Carol's ramblings

Day 2

Today was a bit of a memory lane trip for me.
As children we had many happy holidays in North Wales, the one that stands out was the holiday at Criccieth. We also went when our children were young, so two of us to remember.

After a filling breakfast, set off around 9:30am.
Sun shining, roads good.
Took the trip via Betsw-y-coed - initially couldn’t find the waterfalls, then noticed a pub/hotel (closed for refurbishment) called Swallow Falls. Paying the £2 each, the wonderful sight of the falls coupled with the sound of it brought back all those memories. Photos plus videos taken to record the sound - amazing.

Next stop, Portmerion. A little grey and overcast when we arrived, walked around the gardens/grounds. Stopped off at the Prisoner shop - it was in 1966 that the series was televised at Portmerion. [photos in extras] After a coffee and a trip round the gift shop, the heavens opened so managed to make it back to the car only a bit damp.

On then to Pwllheli, via Criccieth in the rain (10 min stop on the esplanade at Criccieth). When at Pwllheli stayed in the car - rain lashing down by now. Then decided to make our way back to the hotel - about an hour in the pouring rain and spray of lorries.

Relaxing evening tonight - day at the hotel planned for tomorrow.
