Carol's ramblings

By Lucari

Wet / windy

Day at the hotel today.

Discussion over breakfast was the white stag on the grounds (difficult to see) and his off spring (one of which is white.

After breakfast, went for a walk around the walled garden - our surprise, we encountered 8 deer huddled together, they were very quizzical and nervous, difficult to photograph as blending into the surrounding so well. Clearer photo of them running away across the lawn.

Booked on the wellness walk. Across the other side of the main road (A55), is a magnificent church. Every Wednesday an organised walk over to the church (about a mile) greeted by the lovely church ladies providing tea/coffee and biscuits. Tge church is known as the Marble Church. After the hot beverage, they gave a brief chat on the history of the church and the connection with the castle. Beautiful church, wonderful organ (organist playing whilst there - they have an electronic organ which was very impressive). The church has a sign for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission - in the churchyard there are graves for 116 soldiers: 83 Canadian soldiers and 33 British soldiers [WW1 - reported to have died of the Spanish flu].

The group then returned, we split off from the group to visit a local eatery for lunch. Rain started on our return trip, very windy.

Lazy afternoon. Booked in for a manicure session at the spa, hubby went swimming/sauna/steam room.

Relaxing evening.
