Free at last...

This looks like an idyllic scene as a Swan and her cygnets swim serenely on the pond... so why the title? You may well ask - moments before I took this photograph one of the cygnets had become stuck in some fencing that happened to be just next to the nest. You can see that picture HERE. The mother was becoming frantic as it just couldn't get through and she was paddling her feet like mad to try and make a big enough swell to wash him though. Eventually it worked and he was able to join the rest of the family and swam off none the worse for his ordeal. But come on British Waterways - link fencing near nests sites - really?
