Special coin

We ordered this special coin from Royal Mint some weeks ago. It has two portraits of Queen Elizabeth (young and older) on one side and, as shown in the extra, a new portrait of King Charles on the other side.  He faces in the opposite way to the Queen, as it varies with each monarch apparently.  We are pleased with it as it has a nice booklet too.

The roofer called this morning.  The lead flashing needs replacing, as we expected, but the felt under the tiles is soaked and rotting and needs replacing too.  My Dad had temporary repairs done over the years, but it is obvious that it now needs full attention.  Apparently, in 1970’s houses (which this one is) they didn’t use waterproof felt.  So, because the house roof overflow pours down onto the garage roof then into the drain, the constant pounding has flooded the felt.  It all sounds convincing to us and comes with a twenty year guarantee and we know the price is fair from work we had done at the last house.  It will probably be done within the next two weeks, thankfully.
