The end of a tree
The rings of this tree trunk reminded me of a fingerprint on an old, worn hand. Perhaps there is a similarity there - a unique marking of the identity of this fallen tree.
Quite mild today, but overcast and with rain on and off throughout the day. After going across the road to the farm for a sack of potatoes and a few chores, I have spent the day on beginning to look at photographs for next year's calendar and saxophone practice, along with almost finishing 'Home Fire' by Kamila Shamsie, a novel that I can recommend very highly. It is a modern retelling of Antigone that explores the dynamic of radicalisation of British Muslims and political responses. Excellent characterisation and how familial relationships can conflict.
