Chesters Fort

Chesters Fort is thought to have been built in the first millennium BC but has never been excavated for archæological clarification. This view, looking east, gives an idea of the height from the top and some of the six ramparts, which are clearly defined. In the central far distance is North Berwick Law.

May I request help in the identification of the extra photo? By coincidence we saw the same substance at Uttershill Castle, where the first thought was of vomit or other deposit by bird or beast. However I wonder if it is one form of slime mould. In rough sequence of development I noted what appeared to be (clockwise from top left): new, slightly older, deteriorated, and the underside of the last.
