Fungus

We have ben watching this fungus growing on the lawn, next to the edging (a granite sett), for some time, waiting for it to develop into a nice typical cap and stipe or the adult form of its species.. But it never has and you can see one of the culprits in the thumbnail - a slug.

We have a lot of slugs, too many to consider eradication but they have their uses, clearing up any leftover foods the birds or foxes leave behind, or, indeed, any deceased slug or snail.
