William Wallace seat

This tree sits just at the site of a bench which is where William Wallace is said to have sat contemplating his skirmishes with the English.
The tree has grown into the old rusty fence. I wonder if they have been here since the 1200s.
We came by this on our walk at Auchincruive this evening. It was beautiful along the river bank with the young fresh greenery and the wild garlic.
