Forget-me-not

The posh name for forget-me-nots is Myosotis from the Greek for 'mouse's ear' - a description of the shape of its leaves. Its common name was borrowed from the French, ne m'oubliez pas and was first used in English around 1532. Similar names and variations are found in many languages.

Wikipedia Legend has it that in medieval times, a knight and his lady were walking along the side of a river. He picked a posy of flowers, but because of the weight of his armour he fell into the river. As he was drowning he threw the posy to his loved one and shouted "Forget-me-not."

It was often worn by ladies as a sign of faithfulness and enduring love. Quite frankly though - would you want to remember such a pathetically inadequate knight who couldn't even pick a few flowers without getting himself into huge trouble .........................?
