6 monthly check up

I'm a member of 'Pet Plan'. Included in my 'Pet Plan' is all my flea/tick/worming treatment and two check-ups a year. My 6 monthly check up originally used to be with the vet, but the last couple of times it's been with a nurse, and I only see the vet once a year now. In lock down I wasn't even allowed a 6 monthly check up and did Ann get a refund on what she pays every month? She did not. She didn't get a refund of the huge amount of council tax she paid on her St Ives home during lock down either. And for 8 months she wasn't even allowed to go there. But we won't start ranting about that again!!!

Anyway, our very lovely vet, David, has retired and the other lovely vet, Michelle, has left, so our branch is short staffed. This afternoon I had to go to the branch in town, which was absolutely fine because I had my afternoon walk there and back. Hopefully our branch will be up and running again in the next month.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, going to the vets. My tail never stops wagging.

First, I got weighed. Last time I went to the vets (May) I'd put on weight and was 14.5kg and Ann was told she had to keep an eye on my weight in case I turned into a chunky little Collie pup. Today I was 14.1kg so Ann was told she had to keep an eye on my weight in case I turned into a skinny little Collie pup.

Seriously??!!..................... Ann is really glad she's never had kids because the pressure of ensuring, me a dog, is the correct weight is immense. What it must be like for human mothers to conform to the norm (whatever that may be) and make sure their kids reach their 'milestones' must be horrendous. Fortunately, my human is quite relaxed about my weight. I've not been on a diet, but quite often I don't bother to eat my breakfast. Is that a problem? NO! I'm a dog and dogs will eat when they're hungry. Also, when I was a weeny, teeny, little puppy, and went to the vets for the first time, our very lovely vet said that I probably wouldn't weigh much more than 15kg, so as long as I don't get that heavy (or Ann can't feel my ribs), she'll be happy whatever weight I am. However, a less confident doggie mummy might be really worried if they're told to keep an eye on their doggie's weight. Just saying..............

The rest of my check-up was fine. Eyes, ears, nose, paws, back end, heartbeat all checked and I'm in tip top condition. Yay!!!

…..............And I got treats too for being such a good girl. Yay!!!
