Mexico Day 4

Mexico day 4

After a breakfast of scrambled eggs and tomato we had a walk in Puebla to see a church. The alter itself was carved wood with gold leaf and the ceilings were prettily tiled but even more bling was a large side chapel totally covered with gold leaf over the intricate carving. I’ve seen a lot of churches during our travels but this was the most glitzy.

We stopped off to call in to an ex-convent to look at the beautiful kitchen with its stunning ceramic tiles, well guarded.

We set off for the 5-6 hour drive to Oaxaca in the minibus. It was spectacular. We climbed into the Sierra Madre, enjoying the cacti as we flew past. Some are over 300 years old and are protected, as are the Joshua trees. The road was in great condition, climbing to 3500m before swooping down across beautiful canyons by amazing viaducts.
