Last year's amaryllis

This is my 'Rilona' amaryllis from last year. I tried to store it over the summer and the bulb looked awful in September so I chucked it in the compost heap, where it started growing again - and then potted it and put it in the greenhouse last month. 

The bulb itself isn't looking as strong as it did last year but it's now sent a nice shoot so I'm bringing it home today. 

In the meantime, of course, I've bought another amaryllis ('Mont Everest') but I'm really pleased with the idea of having 2 in the house this winter!
