Happy birthday BBC!

The BBC birthday party was at the Natural History museum and I joined friends in the queue to get in.  It was a glorious party, not because it was especially lavish but because of who was there.  So many old friends and SO many familiar and famous faces. As one actor said to me ‘it’s like a fever dream’ and it was true, everywhere you looked there was someone familiar talking to someone unexpected.   I spent a lot of time with two writers we are working with, one who is lively and confident and kept saying things like ‘ ooh look Lenny Henry let’s go and meet him! ‘ And the other who wanted to hide in the corner.  I managed to tell Charlie Brooker of one particular line in one Screenwipe that I thought was particularly brilliant and he dragged me over to meet the person who actually wrote it,  which was classy.

Afterwards RJB and I went back into Soho to grab something to eat (there were canapés and small bowls but who had time!) and ended up in Wok to Walk, a takeaway fast noodle bar which was fantastic.  A glamorous, well dressed young woman brought a homeless man in to buy him some noodles which was also a class act.

Then off to my hub in Soho to battle my jet lag for another night….

Oh and the blip is of the Strictly dancers doing a twirl after the speeches- just for a treat.
