A very long day today, so please forgive lack of/one word comments, though I have read and left stars and hearts, and also very grateful for all your appreciation for my golden morning.

The day began very early, with Mike having a migraine and being sick, and trying to decide what to do...

Decided to go ahead, so drove to and through Spain, and back into Portugal, to Elvas for the Remembrance Day service at the English cemetery. First a service in the chapel, taken beautifully by a lady vicar, and then in the cemetery, with representatives from the Portuguese army as well, and laying of wreaths at various plaques along the walls, commemorating the thousands who died in the Peninsular Wars and the storming of Badajoz. Poems were read, trumpet sounded, two minutes silence observed, all quite moving.

Then, petiscos/tapas and drinks in the olive garden, followed by a long lunch. I was sat next to a Spanish lawyer, and had to dredge up all my ancient Spanish to discuss politics, religion, food, bullfighting, cultures - was exhausted by the end. So we found a quiet lane near Estremoz, and had a nap in the car, followed by a coffee in the old jail, and a quick shop for food for tomorrow.

And then on to Mora, where Bia made us delicious pizza and we've been talking with her and Victor, and Débora till way past midnight, and now blipping in their guest room; another big day tomorrow...

Gratefuls:
- Mike recovering enough to carry on with the plans for the day
- his driving skills when we got stuck in an extremely narrow road in Elvas, with literally a finger space to spare (scraped the door handle), and the old guy who helped him manoeuvre
- Bia and Victor´s hospitality
- oh, and have to mention the stunning scenery we drove through, the red sunset, the yellow moon rising...
