We will remember them
After a dry night the day dawned bright and sunny just in time for the Remembrance Day parade from the Corran Halls here in Oban along the Esplanade to the War Memorial. The sun did go in when the parade began, but you can't win 'em all!
We walked down in time to get in position to see the huge parade with all the various services, police, scouts and guides and many other local groups, led, of course, by the local pipe band. The Oban lifeboat anchored just offshore with the crew standing at attention on the bow. Various speeches and prayers were followed by a number of groups and individuals, some of them very young people, laying wreaths. A two minute silence was observed - quite dramatic with so many people there. All that could be heard was the lapping of the waves on the seashore below the wall merely ten feet away.
Then back home for lunch and a session of leaf raking around the house and down at the roadside, all dumped in the enclosure behind the garage to be used on the garden in a couple of years!
