Bacon Sandwich
A Thursday Gang morning although I wasn’t in any rush to get there arriving around ten. After two hours of cleaning, which is not what we signed up followed by an hour or two of helping to look for the club memorabilia which has been ‘mislaid’ either side of a bacon sandwich lunch.
I left in the early afternoon to walk Paddy, what else, before heading to Sainsbury’s and my final stint manning the Poppy Appeal stand. I have enjoyed it, I have met loads of really interesting people and I’ve enjoyed explaining the significance of the Poppy to the youngsters.
Today I had a great conversation with a lady from Surrey whose father served in the East Surrey Regiment which is the regiment most of my family served in at one time or another.
Todays picture is of the circular window in our local cinema, the engraving beneath it shows that it was once the 3rd Duke of Cornwall Regiment Volunteers Drill Hall and I often wonder what the original stained glass would have looked like.
