Praying for Peace

Today former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide will begin a court hearing over the unresolved case of a slain journalist in 2000. The court hearing will be his first public excursion since Aristide returned to Haiti from exile in March 2011. The reign of Aristide is too complicated to begin to understand let alone explain, but many Haitians are heavily invested in supporting or opposing him.

Police expected many demonstrations, and so the top police officer in Haiti banned all demonstrations for today. Police have orders to break up any demonstrations as they are 'illegal' today.

Praying that violence does not reign in Port-au-Prince today...
