River Plate

On Monday December 18th 1939, Lorna Lloyd chronicled the first naval battle of World War II in her Diary of the war (previously blipped in full in the LornaL journal, and now available as a podcast series with Lorna's great-great niece playing her great-great aunt). The battle took place off the estuary of the River Plate near the coasts of Argentina and Uruguay. 

More recently, blipper Munroist4113 took this photograph of the River Plate at Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. She has kindly sent it to us for this online photo album of places that are mentioned in the Diary of the war. Thank you Munroist4113!

You'll see from the list below that we are still looking for another shot from Uruquay. Does anyone have a photograph of Montevideo (not previously been blipped) that they would be willing to donate to this project? 

There are still many other locations for us to blip here - some which should be easier than others given the demographics of the Blipfoto community. We're a little surprised that we are still hunting for photographs of some specific places in England, for example. Equally, there must be several blippers who could please supply us with a single shot of anywhere in European countries such as Belgium, Finland, Greece, Luxembourg, and Poland.
