Forest
Backblip. I decided to go for a different angle on my favourite plane trees. I like the way the lens has compressed the distance between them, making them look like a forest rather than a line. The colours are changing quickly now, so I've treated you to two extras. Where did yesterday's cloud go? The sun was dazzling.
All of Sue's family went home at the weekend, so we decided to invite her over for dinner tonight, along with A and B, who have just arrived for a couple of weeks. So a trip to the market in the morning to shop for dinner, and then a joint effort to prepare it. We kept it simple: celeriac and leek soup, roast local lamb with sprouts and gratin dauphinois, cheese, and one of the easiest desserts ever -- tarte tatin.
Poor Sue arrived telling us that her brother-in-law had just called to say he had Covid, and she felt rotten. So we gave her a Covid test, and ... it was faintly positive :( As if she doesn't have enough to cope with already. I suppose it was predictable that the funeral, and especially the wake, could be a super-spreader event.
She offered to go straight home, but we took a vote and agreed she could stay, seated well away from the rest of us with the windows open (it was a warm evening). But she faded rapidly and ended up going home halfway through dinner.
Anyway, fingers crossed we haven't made a mistake! But it seemed wrong to send her home alone with no food.
