Red Kite

I did some gardening this morning, planting bulbs and taking a couple of fuschias out of their pots to put in the greenhouse for the winter.  I found lots of vine weevil grubs in one of the pots and the roots have been well and truely chomped.  Soil and weevils now in a big bag in the rubbish bin.

I heard a red kite calling, looked around and then spotted it at the top of a very tall spruce tree.  After taking a few shots I went out into the orchard where I could get a better shot.  Still a long way off (and up), but caught it before it flew off.

Not long after coming inside for lunch it started to rain and hasn't stopped.  It's ten to four and almost dark.
