Rotor

The day started dismally as I woke up to the news that Wales had lost to Georgia at rugby. Luckily things got better as the day wore on with a bit of ice skating for the girls and a nine hole round of golf with Kent before a nice night out. to the Long Beach symphony.
First up was Enrico Chapela’s contemporary composition “Rotor,” based on his garage band rock musician experience as an adolescent in Mexico. Next was the dramatic Natasha Paremski on the pianoforte for Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini: quite terrific. A bit of Sauvignon Blanc saw us through the interval and the rest of the performances. The Uber home made it all feel a bit special. A great evening, but the Wales result still stands.
