Giving Thanks

We had a quiet morning. My sister and BIL set up the freezer in the basement while I cleaned the kitchen. My sister made crab dip and I made a orange cranberry pecan cheese ball. Those were our contributions to the Thanksgiving buffet. We had dinner at a friend’s home in town. Hoagy is a tremendous fellow, so loved and respected in his community that they renamed a street in town “Hoagy Lane.” We save can tabs for him. He collects them and turns them in for cash for the Ronald MacDonald House. Today, he made dinner for the folks at the police station. And his charitable works go on and on. He and his wife are gourmet cooks and today’s meal, although very traditional, was amazingly delicious. His son-in-law, a close friend of our BIL, said Grace before our meal. We are truly blessed to be part of this community and could not thank them enough for the invitation. Thought I’d preserve the memory in a collage. Our mother was home today when we called and our sister was visiting her. She has not been up to leaving her home lately. She spent last Thanksgiving up here and we were sorry she wasn’t up for the trip. Our children all had a special day hiking, decorating for Christmas or just enjoying each others’ company. I miss our big family gatherings but respect their desire to be at their home. We will all congregate at our home on Christmas Eve. Wishing each of you a blessed day. Stay safe and healthy. Thanks for visiting. “Make it a habit to tell people thank you--to express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you'll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you'll find that you have more of it.” - Ralph Marston
