Reading for the journey
Monday 21 November
Today, we were driving about 7 1/2 hours down to Atlanta to spend Thanksgiving week with Jen and Jason. Laura will be joining us Wednesday night. It was a beautiful sunny dry day for our trip, with the temperature gradually warming as we headed south. We have driven through Atlanta numerous times over the years, on our way to Florida, and we have flown through the airport a number of times, but we have never stopped to visit the area itself. The journey passed pleasantly, listening to music or podcasts, and when I wasn’t taking my share in the driving, I was either knitting, or reading my book for next book club, The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles. It’s a long book, but fortunately we have two months to read it, as our December meeting is just lunch and a book exchange. We weren’t in a rush to get off early, since Jen was working today and wouldn’t be home until at least 8.30. We stopped for lunch, and restroom stops and to change drivers, and finally arrived about 8 pm, after slow traffic in Knoxville and getting through Atlanta - they live to the east of the city.
Jason had prepared us a very good vegetable lasagne, and then we all had a fairly early night, since Jen is working the next two days also, and has to be up early - she works 12 hour shifts!
