The pumpkins have landed..

Walking back towards the house we stopped and looked at the pumpkins still lying in the field.  It’s like a sci-fi, where alien pods arrive overnight, hatch out and start an invasion. The farmer has a pumpkin patch business that makes a fortune for them every year but they must have over-planted.   I did ask if I could take a couple to cook with but was told they were cultivated for carving and so were bitter to eat.

Very quiet home day, we read the papers, pottered about clearing things up and then went for a walk in the woods, cutting it short when drizzle turned to rain .  We’d decided not to get in the car today and when a neighbour and friend asked us, spontaneously over to tea we said no.  It was very peaceful!

Back to the fray tomorrow.
