Calanais

The fierce wind had dropped this morning and I could see that there was a little bit of light predawn from the window where we were having breakfast. We set off to Lewis and although it was raining when we left, it soon turned into a lovely day. Our first destination was Mangersta for the sea stacks. We had some lovely bright light when we arrived but the sea stacks were in shade from the cliffs on the left hand side. So there wasn't much point in trying to do a job on them. But with huge crashing seas there was plenty more to interest us for a while. I've added an extra from there. Afterwards we carried on along the road to Tamanasbhal where there were lots of expansive sea views.

Our main aim for the day was to get to Calanish stones as the sun went down. We headed north in beautiful light but as we turned west we lost it. We arrived at the stone circle and could see gorgeous light to the east but the sun was behind some cloud which wasn't moving and left us in the shade. I'm sure these stones look wonderful in any light, they are very impressive and although it could have been better I'm fairly pleased with my shots.
