A day of adventures

Today, Ann should have been working 11-3 but the rota got changed at the last minute don't you just hate that? She could have been out having lunch with friends??? Anyway, as we suddenly found ourselves with a free sunny day, Ann said, 'Trixie, let's go off and have some adventures'.

Although it was a beautiful day, it was extremely cold. Ann checked the tide times for 'Portobello Beach' and then said, 'Trixie, our morning adventure will be a trip to Porty. She didn't tell me that I'd have to wait in the car while she popped into TXMax & the Range first!!!

OMG! It was also absolutely freezing on Porty Beach, but there were still some mad people swimming in the sea, and they didn't even have wet suits on.

Brrrrrrrr........... I didn't bother doing any swimming. I just played with my ball. It was fun, fun, fun.

This afternoon (after we'd had lunch),I was in a deep sleep in my little bed, when Ann woke me up and said, 'Trixie, do you want to go on another adventure. It's such a beautiful day? Let's go to Cramond and walk to the old gasworks at Granton.'

By this time, it was 1.45pm. Mmmmmm................... in retrospect that was a pretty stupid time to set out on another adventure because it gets dark so early these days.

We walked 20 mins to the no. 41 bus stop but we'd just missed a bus, so we walked another 15 mins because we don't do standing around at bus stops getting cold, jumped on the bus and got to Cramond just after 3pm. Anyone who lives in Scotland will know that by 3pm the temperature drops dramatically and then it starts to get dark. ….............Very dark!!!

Mmmmmmmm.................... in retrospect we should have done the walk the other way round.................. Go to Granton first and then walk to Cramond. Apologies to any of you lovely Blippers who live in Granton, but traditionally it doesn't have the best reputation, whereas Cramond has always been regarded as quite posh.

Sooooooo................... we walked along the esplanade, and I had a lovely time running around. And then we had to walk through 'Forthquarter Park' to get to the no. 38 bus terminus. By this time, it was just after 4pm and it was quite dark, and the park was pretty much deserted apart from a few shady characters that were going, who knows where, so I got kept on my lead and we walked fast. The bus terminus is right next to the big 'Scottish Gas' office, but (the bus stop is not overlooked by anyone and as far as we know, there's no CCTV there either), there was only one 'hooded youth' waiting and he glared at us, our app told us there wasn't a bus for 15 mins.....................

Well. What would you do?......................... OK, we're having a day of adventures, but getting mugged/attacked doesn't really come into Ann's repertoire of adventures??!!   Ann said, 'Trixie, let's just walk up to the next bus stop as it's right outside 'Edinburgh College' so there will be loads of students there and they'll protect us.'.............................

Famous last words......................... there were roadworks at the next bus stop so it was closed. 'No worries', said my human, 'there's a bus stop round the corner'. …...................Except there wasn't a bus stop round the corner because the No. 38 bus route had been diverted from 'Crewe Road North' onto the 'West Granton Access Road' because of roadworks. …............So there wasn't actually a bus stop until we got to just before the 'Western General Hospital' (which was more than a mile away from the no. 38 bus terminus)........................... And we have to say.................... walking on the 'West Granton Access Road' wasn't exactly a pleasurable experience in the dark. In fact, it was a very, very, scary experience. Yes, we walked on the pedestrian bit of the pavement, but it was pitch dark and any cyclists whizzing past us could easily have mugged us. ..........Or someone could have been lurking in the bushes and jumped out, dragged us back into the bushes and killed us??? OK, my human does have a bit of an overactive imagination!!!

Oh, and before anyone says................ why didn't you check your 'bus app' for alternative routes to get home.................... my human did (because she's very hip and trendy)............. but the bus app wasn't showing anything. …..............Obv a bit of a 'Lothian Region Transport fail' there?!

Anyway, eventually got a no. 38 bus at the 'Western General Hospital', which took an hour to get back home.  Seriously???..............  My human will be having a RANT about Edinburgh Roadworks at a later date.  Lol!

Got home about 5.45pm-ish. We've had a lovely day of adventures............... Well, I have................ My human says the next adventures we have, will only be in daylight hours. Lol!!!
