Stormy Sunset

It has been getting progressively cloudier all day as a storm moves in. This sun setting underneath the clouds is the only picture I took today as it has been very cold. I'm  happy for the thought of rain, but I've been preoccupied today.

John asked me to go with him to the dermatologist today and then almost left without me. I think he was just anxious and wanted to leave before I was ready.  I thought we had a few minutes more and he decided I wasn't going. One of those odd marital misunderstandings that tends to get things off on the wrong foot.

They are repaving all the roads on our usual route, and there were a lot of delays which made him all the more anxious. We pulled up in front of the office just one minute late, but there was no place to park. No matter, by the time we found a place and went in every chair was taken and there were people waiting outside .

I think it was a good thing I went, as he isn't much better and the doctor confirmed this. He ordered a biologic medication for moderate to severe eczema, which has to be an injection. Or in this case, three injections because it is a 'loading dose'. He also did three biopsies, one on a suspected skin cancer the other two to confirm his diagnosis of eczema and/or rule out something else. John was a big boy, but he hates all the cutting and poking....He's going to wait for tomorrow to get blood drawn for some blood tests. If the diagnosis is correct, he should respond to the biologic medication by the time he has to return in two weeks. If he isn't, more consultants may be necessary.

I'm glad that the doctor is treating this aggressively, and he's a really nice guy, but it's still a lot to take in, and I seem to be feeling more overwhelmed by it all than John is. He's gone off to have a beer with his friend Dan.
