Fist and mog

Had to get some refills from Full Circle, our refill store.  Took my empty containers along to fill with pasta and rice.  Then on to the wholefood shop for olive oil, carrots and treated self to delicious Zaytoun Palestinian dates.

Took this blip across Parker's Piece of the Catholic church, known to local catholics as OLEM - Our Lady and the English Martyrs.  I know this from my neighbour.  I attend no churches.

Took Kyro for a walk round the block.  One screaming episode - cat or squirrel, couldn't tell - cut short by my moving in the opposite direction.

A neighbour, Ginny wanted to greet him.  I met Ginny after I lost my first greyhound Otter.  So many had helped this big greyhound socialise with them and their dogs.  He was bigger than Kyro but afraid of his own shadow.  Sadly, we lost him to cancer.  To say thank you to everyone and farewell to him and other dogs, we had a get-together on the recreation ground.  It was when we said farewell Otter and welcome Murray.

That event encouraged others to express their own loss of their dogs and for us to remember the joy they gave.  Lucy lost her Staffie, Bella,  Charlene her husky and Ginny lost her beagle Trigger.  There are now a new husky and beagle as well as many other new dogs.

Had a chiropractor appointment this afternoon.  It was a toss up between bringing Kyro with us or leaving him home for a short while.   I chose the latter as we hoped to be only half an hour.  I set him up with his peanut butter in his Kong (a thick rubber toy with a hole to put food treats for dog to lick try to extract treats) and left.

We were gone 50 minutes, longer than anticipated.  He was absolutely fine, no destruction or anything untoward just a happy welcome.  This is a good step forward.

Mind you since our return he's placed both his paws with his chin on them on my forearm as we sit together on the sofa.

Why Fist and Mog.  Our family tradition swaps letters:  Fist and Mog, raining dats and cogs you get the gist . . .

It's a dank, chilly evening tonight.  Stay warm and cosy everyone.
