Bridge ceremony
A very sluggish Parkrun this morning quite a contrast to the gorgeous weather, and the three deer I passed on the playing field. My energy had disappeared and I was two minutes and a bit over my pb. A second breakfast revived me and I squeezed a visit to R before I set off to Maryhill for the opening of the long awaited Stockingfield Bridge. I was representing Ramblers Scotland and there was a bit of a jamboree in Maryhill Burgh Hall before we walked up to the canal, collected our lanterns and crossed the new lit up bridge.
It was quite a spectacle with walkers, a few cyclists, paddle boarders (extra) and canoeists. There was a small drama when one of the swans who were in between the canoeists and the paddle boarders got fed up with the disturbance and assailed one of the paddle boards toppling the chap into the water. He must have been freezing, even with a wet suit.
