Epimedium..

Lovely little spring flower, also known as Bishops mitre - due to the leaf shape, fairy wings, and horny goat weed - due to it's aphrodisiac qualities..

There are around 60 species. This one has green leaves which develop a dark red veining. The flowers are borne on wiry stems above the leaves, they hang downwards, like snakes head frittilaries, making it difficult to capture with the camera..

A funeral in the village today, so didn't want to be seen working on the croft as the cortege passed by on the way to the cemetery.

Did go down later, and sow some Hamburg parsley. Perhaps we'll get the beetroot in tomorrow!!

Bright for most of the day, but a shower in the late afternoon..
