Cockpit..

The veg patch at the bottom has been likened to a Stealth bomber, well today we made the cockpit!

Soil raked, stones and weeds removed, raked to level, and drills pulled out with a hoe. That was my job. G came along and sowed the carrot seeds, for me to cover after. We have used four varieties, Solar Yellow, Chantenay 2 Red Cored, Atomic Red, and Cosmic Purple. They should look good on the plate. Then we added fleece to keep the fly off, weighed down with the stones I'd removed. Soil and weather conditions were wonderful.

So, we've got 8 patches, each 2 feet wide, with a foot gap, and 25 feet long. Each 2 foot patch has 4 rows, about 6 inches apart. That's about 800 feet of carrots, and when thinned to an inch apart, we should end up with about 10,000 carrots. That should keep us going!!
