IWM North, from the car park

I have been away for a few days, visiting my SIL in New Mills.
Today we went out to Salford to visit Media City and the surrounding area. All the building were modern and visually fascinating, lots of pictures taken from lots of angles. We spent most time in the Lowry Centre, concentrating on paintings by LS Lowry. I already knew his "match stalk men and match stalk cats and dogs" painting but was surprised at some of the other pictures that looked completely different. The one I was really taken with was called Man Lying on a Wall, silly subject but it just appealed to me

Making use of this visit we had a chance to start our new project. Right now we will struggle to travel abroad, insurance is currently astronomically expensive and we're not keen on travelling in covid filled airplanes. So as we are staying in the UK we needed a strategy to guide where we should go and what we should do. With the help of a Game Show contestant who was also doing this, we found the answer, we are going to visit every cathedral in England and Wales (and maybe Scotland). There are a lot of them. Number one ticked off our list was Salford Cathedral, also known as the Church of St. John the Evangelist. I had anticipated it would be my blip today but the lines in modern buildings seduced me. Lots more chances in future
