Day Four of our Latest Journey

We made our goal to be on the road by 8:00 am. I’d like to sincerely thank you for your kindness concerning the last two blips. I grabbed a shot of the carousel horse at the hotel. They appear throughout Meridian. As you can see, the sky was bright blue as we began today’s journey. It wasn’t long before things turned gray and remained like that throughout the day. Alabama has the third largest timber acreage in the lower 48 states and ranks second in pulp production. We passed many areas where pine trees have been harvested and new saplings planted behind them. It is hard to see the saplings in my photo due to the buffer of pines, etc along the roadway. We passed only a few farms on this leg of the trip. Fog and low hanging clouds covered the hills when we got in higher elevations. We stopped for lunch while still in Alabama and that’s when the rain started in earnest, of course. With those portions, we will not need dinner. We cut through the corner of Georgia as we made our way to TN. I always carry chips, nuts, cookies, candy, etc in case we need a snack but we hardly touch them. Full cups of coffee are a must though. And hubby cranks up the radio when he needs noise to stay awake. I have tried diligently to stay awake and keep him company. We were so happy to see that Tennessee welcome sign. The roads improved immediately. But the traffic increased also, so much so, that we were in stop and go status around and through Knoxville. We are within 7 miles of our destination for the night. We have been around 450 miles today and we lost an hour coming back from central time. It is still raining. The kids are working so we will meet up with them tomorrow. Wishing you safe travels and good health as the busy season approaches. Thanks again for visiting. My eyes are drooping so I apologize for typing errors or grammatical mistakes in advance. “ROAD TRIPS REQUIRE A COUPLE OF THINGS: A WELL-BALANCED DIET OF CAFFEINE, SALT AND SUGAR AND AN EXCELLENT SELECTION OF TUNES – OH, AND DIRECTIONS.” – JENN MCKINLAY
