Day out to Leeds Castle in Kent.
Lovely grounds and setting, but I thought the historical aspect was underplayed in spite of the website entry here. The architecture was relatively modern, the bit about the 7 Queens was a very short film, and most of the exhibits related to the exciting party animal Lady Olive Baillie! I saw no sign of the dog collar museum!!!
This was a coach trip and the journey was agonisingly slow, pick-ups being made all along the coast, and struggling through morning rush-hour traffic on minor roads. It took over 4 hours to travel just under 49 miles.
Re the extras, is the last one a heron?
As to the name, this website explains.
