Eric Tucker paintings

These photos are from my trip in London yesterday.

On Monday I read an interesting article in the newspaper about an artist called Eric Tucker. He was virtually unknown until his death in 2018 but as well as having an ordinary job he painted all his life in the front room of his parents house, in Warrington. Many of his works were discovered by relatives when he died and some are now on show in two smart galleries in Abemarle  Street and Cork Street. In one there is also a reconstruction of the front room where he did his paintings…see extra.
The paintings are somewhat reminiscent of Lowry depicting ordinary street scenes and scenes in pubs and bars. He was self taught and rarely sold any paintings as he was outraged at the commission dealers charged! Some are watercolours and some are oils. It was interesting to visit a small gallery, something I would not normally do.
Most of the paintings seem to have been sold already, for  thousands of pounds.

Today was our first real frost with -3C on my car this morning but it was nice and sunny, too sunny when driving down the A3 for a nice lunch with friends. So much traffic about everywhere and yet more road works holding up traffic around Hampton Court where the lights festival has just begun.
