Hopeful Local

Or, hope for the local.  Mrs B is inspecting the menu board for clues as to the future of our local pub, but finding none.  The chef Mark Hix ran it for just over a year before declaring it a failure and closing down, in July this year.  The gossip has been that there were contentious issues to be settled about his lease before someone else could take it over.  The latest news on the narrow lanes is that a landlord from a local village will take over in the New Year.  We all hope so.  It's the soul of the village, although the Village Hall Committee has done a great job with alternative arrangements, such as pop-up bars.

And in the Extra, another local, although he or she might not play a part in the pub's revival . . .
