Trees in Winter

To Arley this morning for a walk around the garden. Everywhere the plants were covered in a layer of frost (extra).

My main blip is of a tree in the parkland. I love the sculptural forms of trees in winter - it is the mad asymmetry of this specimen that I like. And an extra, nearby oak trees, which are denuded but still retain a lot of golden leaves. Because most other trees have lost all their leaves the oaks really do stand out in the sunshine on a bright but freezing day. For me the sculptural varied forms of trees in winter beat anything humans can do sculpturally hands down.
